Make your own Barbecue at Station BBQ

Opened only three months ago, Station BBQ has already been a favorite among the connoisseurs of barbecue exotics. The restaurant at Jhamsikhel takes pride in making specialized barbecue

and grilled dishes, which also serves multi-cuisine dishes including Indian, Chinese, Continental, and Mexican among others. “We are trying to project Station BBQ as a family restaurant, as we have tried hard to create a quiet family environment here,” says Bipendra Shrestha, the owner of Station BBQ.


Eating in the garden too is welcome as there is seating arrangement on the outside. Moreover, there are two spacious halls where small gatherings or meeting of up to 20 people can be held. The interiors are nice and comfy, and all the decorations are done by using local resources like bamboos and Nepali wallpapers.

“Most of our customers are from the corporate world and other people from higher income groups, though 90 per cent of our customers are Nepali,” says Shrestha. Station BBQ has a seating capacity for over a hundred people at a time. What separates Station BBQ from other restaurants is that the customers can have the pleasure of making barbecue on their own. All the tables in the garden have an attached grill. The meat is served raw with garlic powder, oregano, olive oil, corn flour and all the required spices, and the customers cook it themselves, except from some occasional help. “This adds to the entire dining experience. You can cook your own food and we believe that is pleasurable. You can do it even

when it is raining as we provide shades when it is raining,” shared Shrestha. The barbecued meat is served with salt, pepper, chili powder, lemon juice, mint, organic salad, bread rolls and four different sauces.

Some of the mouthwatering dishes served by Station BBQ are Australian Lamb Chop, Pork Chop, Shredded Pork, Burrito, Spicy Whole Fish, Rainbow Trout and Black Mushroom. Apart from its dishes, Station BBQ has an assorted collection of red and white wines, champagnes and other fine drinks. There is a projector for live screening of all the major sporting events and for presentation during the seminars and conferences. And for health conscious people, there is good news for you. The kitchen of Station BBQ is behind transparent glass walls, so you can see how your favorite food is being prepared. “We have done this as we pay a lot of attention to hygiene and the quality of food here,” says Shrestha.

The place comes alive at evenings, especially on the weekends, with all the merry people enjoying their food and having a nice time. A band performs live every Wednesday, playing jazz. Great ambience, excellent food, premium drinks, comforting music, Station BBQ promises it all.
